I thought I would use my first post to explain why I chose to publish my thoughts under the title “Root2Squared”. For the mathematically inclined, it should be obvious. The square root of 2 is an irrational number, but root 2 squared is of course, 2, which is rational.

I am a naturalist and believe, also, a rational person most of the time. I believe the closest we can get to the truth is through the scientific method. I find I disagree with a lot of things that are accepted by society as the norm; the reason being, I find them irrational. This is a bit vague, so some specific examples would be religion, superstitions, and faith. There are other things, but for now, these are the ones that come immediately to mind.

I hope to post my arguments against the beliefs, cultures, and even laws that I think are illogical or morally wrong. I would like to break down irrational mental constructs with rational, logical arguments. Or, to put it in other words, square the square root of two.

For the curious, the mathematical proof of why root 2 is irrational is a simple, elegant one requiring only basic high school knowledge of mathematics. I suggest you check it out if you don’t already know it.
